YES! We Can End TB. No Gree for TB.

Every year, on the 24th of March, the global community converges to observe World TB Day, a solemn occasion dedicated to shedding light on the pervasive threat of tuberculosis and creating awareness against it. In this ongoing battle against the silent killer disease, RedAid Nigeria proudly stands as a steadfast partner to the Nigerian State, extending unwavering support across the 14 states where our operations are deeply rooted, as well as to the National Tuberculosis, Buruli Ulcer and Leprosy Program (NTBLCP).

Our commitment to combating TB is deeply ingrained and institutionalized through our collaboration with ILEP (The International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations) partners, who have spearheaded initiatives aimed at eliminating TB and Leprosy from our nation. Over the years, RedAid Nigeria has spearheaded numerous projects supported by esteemed partners such as the Global Fund, USAID, and other stakeholders, each contributing to our collective efforts to combat TB.

The TB Week festivities are characterized by a diverse array of activities designed to raise awareness and mobilize communities. From grassroots community sensitization campaigns to outreach programs in religious institutions, correctional facilities, and schools, our aim is to penetrate every section of the society with the message of TB prevention and treatment. The symbolic road walk, a hallmark event of World TB Day, sees citizens from all walks of life coming together to march in solidarity against TB, symbolizing our collective resolve to overcome this formidable challenge.

This year’s World TB Day celebration reached a historic zenith with the investiture of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as a TB Champion. In a momentous display of commitment, Senator Tinubu announced a monumental pledge of N1 billion through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to bolster efforts aimed at eradicating the tuberculosis epidemic in Nigeria by 2030. The announcement, made during the investiture ceremony held on Thursday 28th of March at the State House in Abuja which was attended by our CEO Dr Daniel Egule with other ILEP Partners, signifies a significant milestone in our nation’s fight against TB, underscoring the crucial role of leadership and collective action in addressing public health challenges.

As RedAid Nigeria and other partners continues to champion the cause of TB eradication, the resounding echo of the ‘’No Gree for TB’’ mantra reverberates louder than ever before. It serves as a poignant reminder of our collective determination and unwavering resolve to eliminate tuberculosis and secure a healthier future for all Nigerians. Through sustained advocacy, collaborative partnerships, and community engagement, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of a TB-free Nigeria. We equally encourage everyone to take a stand and commit to this collective pursuit of ending TB in our nation. Together we can do so much more. #HealthForNaija
